Does anyone have any bread recipes that they think might be able to hold
some of the suggested dishes?  Strikes me as a good time of year to be
raising dough...

I had bunny chow a little while back - south african curry in bread - 
which I'd been raved at about (as a concept) by a travel-loving friend. 
Not sure about what they use down in South Africa, but the one I had was a 
nice piece of fairly heavy rye bread.
